Hair Chalk

So suddenly, my friend texted me and asked what chalk hair that I used - my answer is 'soft pastel or chalk'. However, I told her that I'm going to cover this post today ^^ that's why, I'm here to talk about hair chalk.

Hair chalk is popular as not-permanent dye hair. It's colorful - giving pastel color that permanent dye hair can rarely give. However, there are advantages and disadvantages in hair chalk.










I don't know what type of chalk hair that I've must recommended to you actually. I usually use Rembrandt's "Soft Pastels for Artists" (an old fashioned chalks - but there's new version). However, this package of chalks isn't for hair chalk in the first place. It's for arts.


And this type of chalks is the one that in the first place is for hair - Kisspat's "Hair Color Chalk".


You can check tutorials how to use hair chalk on Youtube - there're bunches of them. However, these steps those I give to you are the simplest ones :

  1. First of all, you need : hair chalk, water, not-so-good shirt (because you'll do a dirty job here)
  2. Take some of your hair and soak your hair - you can have dry hair, but it'll be durable if your hair is wet.
  3. Color it with chalk, the color of your choice - if you have dark hair, I recommend you with coloring your hair with white first. In that way, the color will show more. However, as time passes, the color will fade away and turned into pale color.
  4. Use curler or hairdryer to dry your hair - besides, it'll make the color last longer
So, I have two collages of me and my colored hair with hair chalk. Actually I colored it hot pink and red, however the red color had faded away and turned into purple. I don't know how though.



Advantages

  • Before dying your hair permanently, you can try what color that fit you the most with hair chalk
  • Hair chalk doesn't harm your hair, because it's coating your hair - not absorbed by your hair.
  • It's washable in days
Disadvantages
  • It doesn't last long. Actually I've used hair chalk for three times - it doesn't last very long. It'll fade away in hours - maximum is in a day
  • It ruins your clothes - the color of your hair can stick on your clothes. I dyed my hair red and pink yesterday, and my green shirt has red stain.
  • It makes hair looks stiff. In addition, you can't comb your hair because the chalk will fade away
